Khalid
said that the party on the contrary has become stronger and is better
able to provide a strong challenge at the general elections.
Also
on the agenda was Deputy Prime Minister Najib Razak’s statement that
Malaysia has never been a secular nation as the government has always
been driven by the fundamentals of Islam. Najib’s statement has drawn
flak from many quarters, not least of which from BN’s own ranks, the
MCA.
PKR’s
treasurer, William Leong tendered copies of historical documents --
Commissions, statements by former Prime Ministers and Federal Court
judgments as evidences to refute Najib’s statement.
The
party took the opportunity of the press conference to convey their
condolences to the families of the airmen killed in the Nuri helicopter
crash.
